I reserved 2 rooms, the second room was not checked-in to until late in the evening. They have no idea how to handle problems or customer service. The Welcoming staff / front desk staff was horrible. I found a brand new favorite property in Amsterdam! They are very good with requests and super happy to help with requests. My advice.work with the front desk and let them know you like a room situated away from potential noise. While I could hear music, it was no where near what some of the reviews mentioned. Gay Pride was happening during my stay and it's one of the largest events in the country, complete with music and parties. I've read reviews about the noise factor at the property but that was not my experience. While I was exhausted from the trip, the courtesy call from the staff was a welcomed one. A few moments after checking into my room, Whatever, Whenever called to ensure that my room was ok. The reception staff thanked me for my loyalty as an SPG Gold Elite member and I could tell it was genuine and not a script. There was a great room ready for me and I was able to decompress quickly. ![]() The only negative thing I experienced at this property was that I had to leave! I requested an early check-in and they did not disappoint. I'm a huge fan of the W brand and I have to admit after reading some of the reviews about the property, I was hesitant to book a stay here especially given the price point. W Amsterdam is my most disappointing W experience so far. Some of them are among my favorite hotels in the world. After some waiting I had to find a waiter and ask him for a new cup of coffee. My table was cleaned completely, including my unfinished coffee and the unsigned bill, while I was picking up some more delicious food from the buffet. Stunning restaurant and presentation of the breakfast. Uncomfortable high temperature in bedroom due to suite design with two floors and struggling air condition system. 25 minutes waiting to get the luggage delivered to my room. I had to wait 15 minutes to pick up my room key. Two other staff members just watching him work while guests waited in line. ![]() Low capacity at reception when I came back to pick up my key. At 4.30 I got a call telling me I could pick up my room key. At standard check in time 3 PM my room was still not available. Good location near Dam Square and in walking distance from Central station. we loved every minute of being out and exploring, but our daily return to the hotel made it feel like we were coming home to family! More Show less This time we have 14 names! unheard of, and they all genuinely wanted to make our stay better than any other. We always keep the names of the people most responsible for our happy stay, and then write a personal email to the GM. This was by far the MOST amazing staff we have experienced in any hotel worldwide. huge floor to ceiling windows made the view and light in the room just great, but no worry, there are black out shades so sleeping was not an issue! Ok, now the STAFF. our room was sensational and hip and cool with round tub, shower in a old phone booth type stall, and concrete counter tops. VERY COOL adaptation of a previous bank on one side of the street and a communications exchange building on the other side of the street! the renovations must have been crazy, but the properties are relatively new and are spectacular! the Spa is in the old bank vault with the doors still intact! Rooftop restaurant in one building and the only Michelin star restaurant in a W Hotel in the other. ![]()
